From our Sant Pol Kayaking School on the Costa Brava we offer you a kayaking + snorkelling tour so that you can discover the Costa Brava from a different perspective.
With this kayak excursion we will be able to observe the beauty of the coves, caves, channels, cliffs, islands and all the corners that the bay of Sant Pol – S’Agaró hides in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. In addition, through the tour, the instructor will explain the history, nature and curiosities of the coastal place so that you can take an even more complete experience.
As a complement to the activity, we’ll stop the kayaks in a protected cove or bay to jump into the water with our mask and snorkel equipment to do some snorkelling. We will refresh ourselves while we enjoy observing the marine flora and fauna through the crystal clear blue and emerald green waters that this area offers you. We’ll be able to observe the local fish, as well as sea urchins, starfish and with a little luck, an octopus.
What will you learn on our kayaking and snorkelling activity?
Before starting the kayak route, our instructors will make an explanation on the beach of how to handle the kayak with the greatest of guarantees. We will teach you:
- the kayak paddling technique
- how to manage the canoe in any direction
- the main manoeuvres: turns, braking, reversing, etc.
- straighten the kayak in case it capsizes
- brief safety instructions
- how to use snorkelling equipment
Once we have the skill of handling a kayak we will go out to the sea and start our tour.
What kayaking route will we follow during our tour?
We are in a privileged bay that offers us different possibilities for kayaking tours and routes along the Costa Brava, all of them beautiful and interesting. Depending on the sea conditions we will decide to do one of these routes:
Kayaking route towards Sant Feliu de Guíxols (direction SOUTH): this route is full of coves and caves such as Cala Masset, Cala del Peix, Cala del Cranc, Cueva del Mussols, Cap de Mort, Cueva del Rat Penat, Cala del Molí or Cala Ventosa.
Kayaking route towards Playa de Aro (direction NORTH): we will paddle following the” Camino de Ronda“ by the sea that connects S´Agaró beach with Playa de Aro. In this area you will find the sunken ship, the corner of the Hotel de la Gavina, the Punta d’en Pau and its narrow passage, Cala Pedrosa, the viewpoint of S´Agaró and La Conca beach.
Circular kayak tour around the bay of Sant Pol – S´Agaró: we will visit both sides of the bay of Sant Pol -S´Agaró combining places on the north and south route.
Details and prerequisites of the kayaking tour
- Age: any age from 7 years.
- Duration: the duration of the activity is 2 hours.
- Hours: every day from Monday to Sunday with two schedules, mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM or afternoons from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
- Availability: check the course program with the BOOK button.
- Difficulty level: easy.
- Maximum group size: 8 double kayaks per guide.
- Languages: we speak Catalan, Spanish, English and French. When choosing the activity, indicate the language chosen.
- No previous experience or knowledge is required.
- It’s essential to know how to swim.

What‘s included in the kayaking tour?
- Qualified guide.
- Open and self-emptying double kayaks (sit-on-top) and rowing paddles. Individual kayaks are available in case the group is odd or by request. All kayaks are equipped with backrests to make navigation more comfortable.
- Short or long wetsuits depending on the time of year and weather.
- Life jackets (mandatory).
- Support motorboat in stand-by if necessary.
- Civil Liability and Accident Insurance.
- A place in our facilities to leave personal belongings.
Who is this activity for?
It’s an activity that doesn’t require previous knowledge or experience, which makes it suitable for all audiences, regardless of age and physical condition. In particular, it’s a highly recommended activity for:
- Couples: surprise your partner by doing a different and fun activity together while enjoying nature and the sea.
- Families: it is an ideal activity to do as a family as the young children from 7 years old can participate in it.
- Groups of friends: it is a perfect activity to do with a group of friends.
- Large groups: we carry out private excursions for large groups of companies, bachelor parties, schools or colleges, summer camps, travel agencies, tour operators, etc. We apply a 10% discount for groups of 20 people or more on the same kayak + snorkel excursion.
What do we advise you to bring?
- Sun protection cream.
- If youhave snorkel equipment , we recomend you to bring it , in case you don’t have any, we will provide snorkelling mask.
- Neoprene shoes that can get wet in case you want to step on the coves or rocks.
- Croakies if you need to use prescription or sunglasses.
- Spare clothes and towel for once activity is finished.
We have our own changing room, and near our facilities there are showers on the beach and public toilets.
Other information to consider
The activity will start at the indicated time with the maximum punctuality possible. For this reason, we recommend arriving 20-30 minutes in advance so that you have time to prepare and start on time.
